NFL Media's Albert Breer reports on Tuesday that McCoy has a shoulder strain, but didn't need an MRI. Breer added that Shady's status is still up in the air, despite the back's optimism.
"I believe he'll play," head coach Rex Ryan said Tuesday. "How significant his role will be, I'm not sure."
McCoy compiled 16 rushes for 112 yards in Week 9 before leaving the game in the second half. He's missed two games this season due to injury.
Other injuries we're tracking:
- Chargers wideout Malcom Floyd suffered a torn labrum Monday night against the Bears, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of his condition. He may try to play through it, despite that this is often a season-ending injury, Rapoport added. Floyd has said publicly this is his last season. Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune first reported the news.
- The Jets could be short one of their top cornerbacks on Thursday. Coach Todd Bowles said he isn't optimistic Antonio Cromartie will play as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Bowles also added that he isn't optimistic right guard Willie Colon will play. The Jets should get center Nick Mangold back, returning from a neck injury.
