Illinois senator introduces bill to create youth concussion law

Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin made good on his promise Wednesday. He officially introduced a national youth concussion bill that has the backing of the National Football League, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The bill, which would direct states to create concussion policies for public school districts, is called the "Protecting Student Athletes from Concussions Act." As part of the legislation, it would make the "when in doubt, sit out" policy national law.


The office of Durbin, whose bill also is backed by the NHL, NBA, NCAA, USA Football and US Soccer, said in a statement:
