The Bengals managed to put up one of the worst offensive performances in recent franchise memory in Sunday's 27-0 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
They did not register a first down until late in the first half. They didn't cross midfield until the fourth quarter. They had the fewest total yards at halftime by any team since Week 3 of last season.
And offensive coordinator Hue Jackson has taken the blame for it all.
"All those things you just mentioned falls at my responsibility, making sure that we're on top of everything, and honestly I don't think I did a very good job of that," Jackson told reporters Monday, per the Cincinnati Enquirer.
As brilliant as Jackson's game plan was without wide receiver A.J. Green two weeks ago in a 37-37 tie with the Carolina Panthers, it failed to spill over into a must-win game against the Colts in Indianapolis. It's easy to tell that Andy Dalton is desperate for his big-time wide receiver to come back.
"They won in every facet of the game against us," Jackson said. "That's not us. It's not who we are. It's not who we've become. And again, I think it's my job that I make sure that I get that squared away with our offensive unit."
