Chad Kelly, QB, Ole Miss

Stats: 20-of-33 for 218 yards, 1 TD, 2 INTs. 12 rushes for 56 yards (4.7 average). (at LSU)
Skinny: Kelly is a streaky passer with a strong arm, and he had an up-and-down performance against LSU. Although Kelly's numbers are solid on the surface, evaluators will take issue with his spotty accuracy and questionable judgment in critical moments. He continues to make too many "hero" throws when his intended receiver is covered, and the poor decisions cost his team dearly in games against elite opponents. Against an LSU team that is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball, Kelly needed to understand when to minimize his risk-taking to keep his team in the game. Evaluators will take him to task for turnovers due to the timing and situation of them (Kelly tossed his first interception with his team nursing a 10-7 lead; his second interception was thrown on the Ole Miss side of the field with team attempting to mount a drive when trailing 31-21). The spunky quarterback is still learning how to play winning football. Scouts need to re-assess Kelly's value and potential impact as a QB1. -- Bucky Brooks
