Good week for Chris Mara, Super Bowl, Oscar

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - It's been a good week for New York Giants vice president of player personnel Chris Mara.

The son of late owner Wellington Mara saw the Giants knock off the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday to advance to their second Super Bowl against New England in four years.

Mara got another chance to celebrate Tuesday when his daughter, Rooney, was nominated for an Oscar as best actress for her performance in "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo."

Chris Mara said the experience over the past three days has been surreal. In an email to The Associated Press, he says he's glad the "49er faithful" didn't recognize his two daughters "sitting amongst them," and that he "cried a little and went to church" after he watched the nominations being announced on television.
