Giants sign WR Hagan, place Barden on injured reserve

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants have signed wide receiver Derek Hagan and placed Ramses Barden on injured reserve.

Barden fractured his left ankle in the Giants' 33-20 loss Sunday to Dallas. The Giants also are without Steve Smith, who is out indefinitely with a torn pectoral muscle.

Hagan appeared in all 16 games for New York last season, mostly on special teams. He caught eight passes for 101 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown Dec.21 against Washington. He was released in September.

The Giants also signed defensive tackle Dwayne Hendricks to their practice squad Tuesday. Hendricks was on the team's practice squad for the last 10 weeks of the 2009 season.
