Giants' Nicks, Steelers' Taylor fined $10K for preseason scuffle

New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks and Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor each were fined $10,000 by the NFL for their fight during an Aug. 12 preseason game at New Meadowlands Stadium, *The Star-Ledger* reported Friday.

AFC information manager Corry Rush told the Newark, N.J., newspaper that both players were cited for "after the play was over, unnecessarily striking an opponent in the head area."

Nicks and Taylor were ejected on the fourth play of the Steelers' 24-17 victory, after Giants running back D.J. Ware had a 4-yard run to Pittsburgh 49. Nicks was blocking Taylor downfield when tempers flared and a number of punches were exchanged. At least three officials tossed flags.

Referee Scott Green called coincidental personal fouls on Nicks and Taylor, then ejected both players.
