Fox didn't hear Broncos fans' wishes, so maybe he'll see them

The Denver Broncos quarterback controversy is about to get a lot bigger -- literally.

The Denver Post reported Wednesday that a group of eight Broncos fans has decided to pool their money and rent two billboards to implore coach John Fox to start Tim Tebow over Kyle Orton.

"We believe in Coach Fox, we're just tired of Kyle Orton," Jesse Oaks told the newspaper. "We were sitting around after Fox said he didn't hear the chants for Tebow, and we figured if he's deaf, we hope he's not blind."

Oaks, who lives in Independence, Ky., said he posted his plan on a Broncos message board Wednesday and already has received hundreds of emails from strangers since, most of them offering to chip in for the $10,000 cost.

The fans haven't yet decided what the billboards will say.

Many Denver fans and some in the media have been calling for Tebow to take over the team for some time. The pressure grew in the aftermath of the Broncos' 23-20 home loss to the Oakland Raiders on Monday night, when the veteran Orton struggled in the rain and fans started chanting for Tebow.

Fox has maintained that Orton is his starter. And Orton said Wednesday that he isn't bothered by the fans' reaction.

"I just look at it like I don't care," he said. "(Fox's) opinion and my teammates' opinions will always be the ones that matter."
