Former NFL quarterback Bollinger calling it a football career

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- North Dakota native Brooks Bollinger said he's calling it a career as a quarterback.

The former Grand Forks high school standout, who went on to play at Wisconsin and then in the NFL and UFL, told the Grand Forks Herald that all the hits he has absorbed have taken a toll on his body, and he's done "unless something crazy happens."

Bollinger, 31, played the past two seasons for the UFL's Florida Tuskers. He was league MVP his first season. He also played for the New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys in the NFL and also had a five-day stint with the Detroit Lions.

Bollinger said he hasn't decided what he'll do next in life. He lives in Minnesota's Twin Cities, and his wife is expecting their third child next month.
