Former Eagles cheerleader to be honored for Army service

USA Today profiled a former Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader who now serves in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan.

Rachel Washburn, who will be honored by the Eagles this weekend while she's on leave from her second Middle East tour, has served as an intelligence officer with a special ops combat unit in Afghanistan. Her job is to relate to local women in a culture that male troops would not be encouraged to do so.

Washburn, 25, was an Army ROTC student and history major at Drexel while cheerleading for the Eagles. Her father was a pilot in the Air Force and the Army.
