Falcons' Biermann fined $15K in latest wave of NFL sanctions

Sixteen players, eight in each conference, were fined Friday by the NFL for illegal hits, including Atlanta Falcons defensive end Kroy Biermann and Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Dhani Jones, each of whom was docked $15,000.

Biermann received the biggest fine for helmet-to-helmet contact on Seattle Seahawks quarterback Charlie Whitehurst in last Sunday's game because it was the lineman's third illegal hit this season. Jones was docked for the same infraction against Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy.

Overall, seven players have been fined for roughing the passer and three for flagrant fouls on defenseless receivers, two points of emphasis by the league this season.
