Fabiano meets Flanagan in a GameDay Morning showdown

We've hit the midway point of the regular season in the NFL GameDay Morning fantasy league and there's some separation between the league's contenders and pretenders. With teams fighting for playoff spots or first-round byes, there are a couple of contests that could define the league's postseason.

Thanks to a demolition of Kurt Warner last week, Michael Fabiano's Stallions have won four straight and now sets hit sights on Alex Flanagan's Flantastics. Despite the specter of Shanahanigans, Fabiano will hope to get a big week out of Ryan Torain, while Flanagan is riding with Tashard Choice as a bye-week replacement for the uber-productive Wes Welker. Expect this one to be high-scoring and close.

Predicted outcome: Shanahanigans and a disappointing Bears defense lead to a Flantastic win.

Chances are, neither of these two make the playoffs. Marshall Faulk has an outside shot, but it has to start with a win this week. The injury to LaGarrette Blount has forced him to ride with Marion Barber, which will make things tough. With a number of favorable matchups, Steve Mariucci could easily pull the "upset" here.

Predicted outcome: The Milita wins and it's not really close. Faulk's slim playoff hopes evaporate.

Through byes and injuries, Warren Sapp's Fighting 99 have endured a couple of rocky weeks. But with Matthew Stafford and Earnest Graham poised for good weeks, it could be another week in which Sapp perseveres. Unless, Aaron Rodgers goes all Aaron Rodgers and pushes Rich Eisen's Kukars to a win. Which is entirely possible.

Predicted outcome: Stafford shines against Atlanta and Sapp stays on track for a playoff berth.

Elliot Harrison's Plantar Smashiitis just keeps rolling along and starts the week as the league's highest-scoring team. With none of his significant contributors on bye, it could be another week of fireworks. That's bad news for Stacey Dales who is down to playing backups and underachievers in an effort to stay about .500.

Predicted outcome: Smashiitis smashes another opponent in his continuing quest to claim the league's best record.

After a slow start, Michael Irvin's Play Makers have stepped things up the past two week. But with nearly his whole team on a bye, it's going to be hard to stretch that two-game winning streak to three. Meanwhile, like the Denver Broncos, Michael Lombardi has turned to Tim Tebow for help. Stop us if you've heard this before, but this could be the week that Lombardi gets his first win.

Predicted outcome: Yep, it finally happens. Lombardi can raise the victory flag.

Jason La Canfora's Sonic Reducers battled for their second win of the season last week, but getting a third will be tough with a questionable matchup for Michael Turner. Things look a little better for Kurt Warner's Krew, but if Jackie Battle doesn't produce, it could get interesting.

Predicted outcome: Too many people contributing too many points means Kurt's Krew stays in the playoff race.
