Eagles, TE Dallas Goedert agree to reworked contract for 2025 season

Dallas Goedert's offseason of uncertainty is over.

The Eagles are retaining the veteran tight end after the two sides agreed to a reworked deal for the 2025 season, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported on Wednesday.

The adjusted contract comes after the Eagles entertained trade offers for the 30-year-old pass-catcher during the draft, keeping the 2018 second-round pick informed of the evolving market during the process. In the end, Goedert instead agreed to a restructure with the goal of remaining with Philadelphia and signing up for what head coach Nick Sirianni requested following their win in Super Bowl LIX: Let's run it back.

Those who read through the thinly veiled suggestions offered by general manager Howie Roseman had plenty of reason to believe Goedert was headed toward a new home in 2025. While Roseman admitted Goedert's uncertain future wouldn't affect the Eagles' approach to the 2025 draft, he also didn't commit to keeping Goedert after Philadelphia failed to move him during the draft, telling reporters "Dallas is part of the team as we speak" in late April.

Such an approach ended up working for both sides. Instead of entertaining the thought of joining a new team and fitting into a different offensive system, Goedert decided it was worth restructuring his contract to remain with the defending Super Bowl champions and continue to play a key role in the Eagles' multidimensional offensive attack.

Goedert has never posted Travis Kelce-like numbers in his career, but he's found a way to make a difference for the Eagles and displayed a knack for making big plays in the most important spots during their run to Super Bowl LIX. Should he post another productive season in 2025, he could cash in on the open market after turning 31 in January.

With a ring on the way for Goedert, stability and familiarity -- plus a fresh chance to pursue another title -- won out over a chance to possibly make more money with a lesser club.
