Eagles plan to use only sustainable energy for operation

PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles say they have become the first NFL team to use only sustainable energy for their operations.

The Eagles on Friday announced a purchase of 14 million kilowatt hours of wind power. Officials say that allows them to achieve their goal of running their training facility and Lincoln Financial Field solely on wind power all year long.

The team also has a conservation program that officials say has resulted in a nearly 30 percent reduction in energy use at Lincoln Financial Field since 2004. The Eagles also reimburse employees who purchase wind energy for their home use.
