Dolphins expected to sign four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Matt Judon to one-year deal for $6M max value

The Miami Dolphins aren't done loading up at edge rusher.

Miami is signing veteran Matt Judon to a one-year deal, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The contract is worth up to $6 million, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported.

A four-time Pro Bowler during his time with the Baltimore Ravens (2016-2020) and New England Patriots (2021-2023), Judon essentially forced his way out of the nightmare that was the Patriots' 2024 season spent under former coach Jerod Mayo, landing with the Atlanta Falcons via trade in the middle of August. A year later, Judon found himself without a job, visiting the Dolphins Monday before deciding to hop on board with Mike McDaniel's squad, which includes plenty of investment in the position group (including Bradley Chubb, Chop Robinson and Jaelan Phillips) but was still seeking additional help.

Judon tallied 5.5 sacks for a Falcons defense that was desperate for edge help last season but hasn't sniffed the double-digit numbers he put up during his peak seasons of 2021 (12.5 sacks) and 2022 (15.5) in New England. Miami won't expect him to suddenly rediscover that form, either; the Dolphins just need him to fill a rotational role in defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver's scheme.
