"We'll see how he is in the next couple of days, but we're confident he'll be back soon," coach Jon Gruden said.
"I don't know how severe it is. Sometimes they say it's tweaked, and that's two weeks. Sometimes they say it's tweaked, and that's two days."
Brooks, who has been selected to play in the Pro Bowl the past 10 seasons, was injured during Friday afternoon's workout at Disney World.
Running back Michael Pittman also was held out of Saturday morning's practice. Receiver Joey Galloway left early with cramps, then was excused from the afternoon session to fly to New Orleans for Sunday's ArenaBowl.
Galloway is a part-owner of the Columbus Destroyers, who will face the San Jose SaberCats in the title game.
Gruden said the Bucs have come up with a creative plan to try to keep some of the team's veterans fresh during camp.
"We did some things research-wise that we're going to try to put into action, and we'll see how it goes," Gruden said.
"There are some guys that are under the medical watch of our staff, some guys that I think need time to lift (weights) properly during this time, guys that need to stretch more properly. And obviously some guys that could use some additional rest and rehab to be explosive and physical when they do show up in practice."
Meanwhile, the team signed defensive tackle Justin Frick. He originally signed with Tampa Bay in May as an undrafted free agent, but was released on July 22.
