Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs focus on brain injuries

Every U.S. military branch has been actively working with the NFL for almost two years on ways to prevent and treat head injuries.

NCO Journal recently looked some of the other groups the Department of Defense is working with to help combat brain injuries. The report was centered on the DOD and Department of Veterans Affairs' meeting last week at the Military Health System Research Symposium.

Traumatic brain injuries have become a priority for the military since thousands of soldiers have suffered head trauma in the Middle East.

During the next 12 months, researchers from NRAP will focus on developing ways to quickly diagnose TBI.
