Dawkins receives ninth Pro Bowl berth, replacing Polamalu

Denver Broncos safety Brian Dawkins was added to the AFC's Pro Bowl roster Thursday, marking the ninth time he has been picked for the all-star game in his 16 NFL seasons.

It isn't known if Dawkins, who missed the Broncos' regular-season finale and two playoff contests with a neck injury, will play in the Jan. 29 game in Honolulu. He replace Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, who played with a calf injury during Pittsburgh's Jan. 8 wild-card loss at Denver.

Dawkins is tied with John Lynch for the second-most Pro Bowl berths for safeties, trailing only Ken Houston (10).

Two Houston Texans players -- center Chris Myers and defensive end Antonio Smith -- and Oakland Raiders long snapper Jon Condo also were added to the AFC's roster Thursday.

Myers, the first Texans offensive lineman to make the game, is replacing Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey (ankle), and Smith, who had a career-high 6.5 sacks for the NFL's second-ranked defense, is stepping in for New England Patriots defensive end Andre Carter (knee). It's Smith's first Pro Bowl appearance, too.

Condo also was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 2009 season. He was part of a Raiders kicking game that was one of the team's strengths this season.

Seattle Seahawks fullback Michael Robinson was added to the NFC's roster, replacing Green Bay Packers fullback John Kuhn, who pulled out of the game because of a right knee injury he suffered in last weekend's divisional playoff loss to the New York Giants. This will be Robinson's first Pro Bowl appearance and comes after he helped running back Marshawn Lynch become the Seahawks' first 1,000-yard running back since 2005.
