A trade that would send Dallas Cowboys linebacker Bobby Carpenter to the St. Louis Rams in exchange for offensive tackle Alex Barron will be finalized Monday, NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reported. The deal is one-for-one, with no picks involved.

The reason for the delay, a league source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora on Friday, is that the players are on opposite sides of the country and have some weekend obligations, so the easiest way to get their physicals completed, and thus finalize the deal, is to wait until Monday.
One hurdle for the deal was cleared Friday. Barron signed his restricted free-agent tender, a league source confirmed to NFL.com senior writer Steve Wyche. Barron signed the $1.8 million tender, which was a prerequisite to any trade.
Carpenter is a former first-round pick who has not found his way with the Cowboys in three seasons and plays mainly in nickel packages and on special teams. Carpenter's fortunes could change as he moves to outside linebacker in St. Louis 4-3 front, where he will play alongside former Ohio State teammate James Laurinaitis, a middle linebacker who flourished last season as a rookie.
