Cowboys' Dak Prescott: 'This is Tony's team'

Everyone from Jerry Jones to Brett Favre, to your building's janitor has weighed in on whether Tony Romo should take over for Dak Prescott when the veteran is healthy following the team's Week 7 bye.

The rookie quarterback won't campaign to keep the starting gig and continues to follow the party line.

"This is Tony's team," Prescott said, via the team's official website. "I knew that going into the situation. I think everybody knew that. I'm just trying to do the best I can to give my team a chance to win week in and week out."

Prescott's play this season has been remarkable. He needs eight more pass attempts to break the record for most pass attempts without an INT to begin a career. He's completed 69.0 percent of his passes, with four TD passes, three rushing scores, and a 101.5 passer rating. Prescott's displays comfort in the pocket, heady decision-making and the ability to sling lasers when necessary.

Prescott's production compares favorably to Romo's since 2014, per NFL Media Research:

Romo: 15-4 W-L record; 69.6 completion percentage; 241.5 pass YPG; 39-16 total TD-INT ratio; 105.9 passer rating
Prescott: 4-1 W-L record; 69.0 completion percentage; 247.8 pass YPG; 7-0 total TD-INT ratio; 101.5 passer rating

Where the rookie has struggled is stretching the field -- not having Dez Bryant plays a factor. Prescott has completed just one pass greater than 20-plus air yards this season on just seven attempts, fewest among quarterbacks with four or more starts.

The Cowboys face a penetrating Packers front seven in Green Bay on Sunday, Dallas' stiffest test this season. If Dak wins at Lambeau Field, the calls for him to keep the job will become deafening in Dallas.

The rookie insists all he cares about are the Ws.

"As long as we're winning. I really don't care," he said of taking a backseat when Romo is healthy. "Obviously I want to play. That's the competitor in me. But if we're winning, I'm happy."
