First things first: Minnesota Vikings receiver Cordarrelle Patterson said the hip injury he suffered Thursday is fine.
What's not fine for us is the lack of opportunities our "Making The Leap" candidate has received in the Vikings' offense the past four weeks. It's not just us and fantasy football fans scratching our heads; Patterson himself has no explanation as to why he hasn't been more involved in the offense.
"I wish I knew the answer," said Patterson, per the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I want to be more involved. I don't know what's going on. We have a plan. I'm sticking to the plan. I trust coach (Norv) Turner and the whole staff with what they're doing. It's going to turn around. Hopefully I get more touches."
Patterson has just 15 catches on the season, with just two apiece in the last two contests. Surprisingly, Norv Turner hasn't been able to get the ball to his most dynamic talent in space.
Equally astounding is that after Patterson carried the ball tree times for 102 yards in Week 1, he has just one rush for -7 yards and zero attempts the past two weeks.
"We've practiced getting carries," he said. "I guess we're just waiting on the right time. I'm not worried about it. When my number's called I'm ready for it. I'm just sitting back and being patient."
Patterson can be patient, the rest of us will continue to shake our heads, dumbfounded at how an offense can't get its best big-play weapon the ball in space.
