Colts to host Browns without LBs Brackett, Sims

After the Colts had their problems containing the Texans' run game in Week 1, they now prepare to take on Peyton Hillis minus a pair of defensive mainstays.

Coach Jim Caldwell confirmed Wednesday that linebackers Gary Brackett and Ernie Sims have been ruled out for Sunday's home date with the Cleveland Browns, The Indianapolis Star reported Wednesday

Sims left in the first half against Houston with a knee sprain. Brackett sprained his shoulder after an interception return in the fourth quarter.

The Colts have wandered aimless with Manning sidelined, but Caldwell told the newspaper his team is built to outlast the lows.

"We do have the wherewithal to do it," Caldwell said.

The Terre Haute Tribune Star reports the Colts have signed linebacker Nate Tripplett to the active roster and linebacker Caleb Campbell to the practice squad.
