Indianapolis Colts cornerback Marlin Jackson will miss the remainder of the season because of a knee injury, a league source told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora.
According to The Associated Press, Jackson tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, an injury that La Canfora reports happened during Wednesday’s practice. Jackson will undergo season-ending surgery at an unknown time.
The Colts declined to comment on Jackson's injury.
Jackson made 23 consecutive starts at cornerback for Indianapolis before tearing the ACL and meniscus in his right knee during a no-contact practice in October 2008. The five-year NFL veteran had missed the past three games with a strained ACL in his right knee.
Jackson's newest injury came one day after the Colts placed linebacker Tyjuan Hagler on season-ending injured reserve with a ruptured biceps.
The league source also told La Canfora that Colts wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez continues to explore options for his return. Gonzalez, who has been out since suffering a knee injury during the season-opening victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, hoped to be back in six weeks, but he isn't ready to play.
Gonzalez continues to rehabilitate his knee -- a return for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans is highly unlikely -- and pursue options for his knee other than surgery.
