Colts add rookie safety Skinner, waive two injured players

ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Indianapolis Colts signed safety Terrell Skinner and released two injured defensive backs Tuesday.

Skinner is an undrafted rookie out of Maryland and adds depth to a secondary that sustained two injuries during Sunday's preseason loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

To make room for Skinner, the Colts put veteran safety Jamie Silva and recently re-signed rookie cornerback Donye' McCleskey on the waived-injured list. Both players will be placed on the season-ending injured reserve list if they clear waivers.

Silva tore the anterior cruciuate in his right knee Sunday. The Colts haven't said what injury McCleskey sustained in Sunday's game.

The 6-foot-2 Skinner originally was signed by the Minnesota Vikings.
