Najee Harris' Los Angeles Chargers' debut appears to only be a couple days away.
The Chargers expect the running back to play Friday against the Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil, head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Wednesday, adding Harris "says he's ready and he looks ready to go."
Harris has been limited from participating fully in training camp and preseason action due to an eye injury sustained in a Fourth of July fireworks accident. He was finally cleared for his first contact practice Monday and told reporters he was "ramping up" with a focus on playing Friday. Harris was listed as a full participant in Tuesday and Wednesday's practice reports.
Now, it sounds as if that's exactly what Chargers fans can expect to see when they battle the Chiefs in Sao Paulo, Brazil. How much Harris participates remains to be seen, however.
"Those are really hard to predict – play counts and things of that nature," Harbaugh said. "Get in there and play football and have at it. That's kind of the mindset. Not kind of – that is the mindset."
Harris joined the Chargers via free agency earlier in 2025 as a rugged veteran back who was expected to be one of the leading forces of their ground-focused offense. Due to the injury, we've yet to see what he looks like in Los Angeles' system, which also features 2025 first-round pick Omarion Hampton.
We'll see how the touches are divided up between the two.
