Cardinals put LT Gandy on injured reserve; Bridges remains starter

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals placed starting left tackle Mike Gandy on injured reserve Wednesday after he underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia.

The move ends the season for Gandy, who had started 31 consecutive games, counting last season's playoffs, before the injury kept him out of a Dec. 2 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. He tried to come back the following week at San Francisco but came out of the game in the third quarter.

Gandy, who becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season, underwent the surgery Friday. He has been replaced in the Cardinals' lineup by Jeremy Bridges, who signed with the team Sept. 8.

The Cardinals elevated linebacker Pago Togafau from the practice squad to take Gandy's roster spot.
