Cardinals agree to terms with DB Tramon Williams

A secondary chock-full of experienced playmakers is gaining another veteran.

Williams spent the last two seasons in Cleveland, signed as a major addition at corner. The former Packers standout instead struggled in coverage, missed five games and intercepted just two passes in two seasons combined. Father Time's effect on him became evident in 2016, especially in man-to-man situations where he'd clearly lost a step.

Williams offers upside to the Cardinals, though, because he won't be asked to cover in such situations. The 11-year veteran will instead come on board to provide depth, experience, veteran leadership and potential versatility. Exploring time at safety isn't out of the realm of possibility, though Arizona is essentially two-deep at the position with Antoine Bethea and Tyvon Branch at strong safety, and Tyrann Mathieu and rookie Budda Baker behind him at free safety.
