As has become a well-known statistical hallmark of the Chicago Bears' longstanding struggles at the quarterback position, no QB for the franchise in its 106 seasons has ever reached 4,000 passing yards in a season or 30 touchdown passes.
2024 NFL Draft No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams has made it clear previously he has designs on changing all that. Now, with six games left in the 2025 regular season, just how likely is it that Williams will make history this year?
Ahead of the Bears' Week 13 Black Friday showdown at the Philadelphia Eagles, Williams has thrown for 2,568 yards and 16 touchdowns. So, Williams now needs 1,432 passing yards to reach 4,000. To do so, he needs to average 238.7 per game over the final six games.
As for hitting 30 TDs, he needs 14 more and to average 2.3 per game.
Unfortunately for Williams and the Bears' history books, he's not currently on pace for either mark as he's averaging 233.5 yards per contest and 1.45 TDs a game.
Of course, it's not impossible and it's still well within reach for Williams to become the Bears' single-season standard bearer in passing yards and TDs, marks still held by Erik Kramer from 1995, when he threw for 3,838 yards and 29 TDs.
Here's a breakdown of Williams and the Bears' remaining games and the passing defenses he'll face.
Caleb Williams, Bears Remaining Schedule
- Eagles league ranking passing yards allowed: 22nd
- Eagles league ranking passing TDs allowed: 4th
The next game up for the Bears and Williams will be a massive standalone game on Black Friday against the reigning Super Bowl champions. Williams will face off against the Eagles -- and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio -- for the first time in his career. Of interesting note, Williams will lead Chicago into its first Friday game since Week 2, 1966.
- Packers league ranking passing yards allowed: 5th
- Packers league ranking passing TDs allowed: 8th
In the first of two remaining games against the Bears’ archrivals, Williams will draw the marquee for the first time facing all-world pass rusher Micah Parsons. Needing to average 2.3 TDs per game to his 30, Williams will play against a defense that’s allowed just one quarterback (Dak Prescott) to throw for more than two TDs in a game.
- Browns league ranking passing yards allowed: 2nd
- Browns league ranking passing TDs allowed: 15th
Another first for Williams as he plays the Browns for the first time with Myles Garrett potentially vying for the single-season sack record.
- Packers league ranking passing yards allowed: 5th
- Packers league ranking passing TDs allowed: 8th
Williams threw for a combined 379 yards and one touchdowns in two games last season versus the Packers.
- 49ers league ranking passing yards allowed: 26th
- 49ers league ranking passing TDs allowed: 26th
In a loss to the 49ers last season, Williams passed for just 134 yards with a pair of touchdowns, while taking seven sacks.
- Lions league ranking passing yards allowed: 15th
- Lions league ranking passing TDs allowed: 27th
In three career games against the Lions, Williams is averaging 2.3 touchdowns 265.6 yards per contest.
With six games to go, we shall see if Williams can make Chicago history 106 seasons in the making.
