Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller was fined $7,500 by the NFL on Friday for his late hit during last Saturday's divisional playoff loss to the New England Patriots, the Boston Herald reported.

Miller drew a 15-yard penalty after he hit Patriots center Dan Connolly in the back after Tom Brady launched a 48-yard punt in the fourth quarter of their 45-10 win. Miller's actions nearly ignited a midfield fight between the two teams.
Miller tweeted after the game that, in his view, the hit was legal .
"Was not a cheap shot, hit was totally legal," Miller wrote. "Play wasn't over, I could've loafed and said game over, but I didn't. Never quit, never give up."
Patriots safety Patrick Chung also was fined $7,500 for a late hit out of bounds against the Broncos, a league spokesman told the Herald on Friday.
New York Giants safety Kenny Phillips also was docked $7,500 by the league for his unnecessary roughness penalty in last Sunday's win over the Green Bay Packers, according to the New York Daily News.
