Brian Schottenheimer is latest to interview with Baltimore Ravens

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer became the fifth candidate to interview for the Baltimore Ravens' head coaching vacancy.

Schottenheimer met for several hours Monday with team officials, including owner Steve Bisciotti, general manager Ozzie Newsome and president Dick Cass.

Schottenheimer's father, longtime coach Marty Schottenheimer, has also been contacted by the Ravens' search committee. However, he prefers not to be interviewed until the later phases of the search to find a replacement for fired coach Brian Billick.

The Jets finished near the bottom in total offense in 2005 and 2006 under Brian Schottenheimer. He interviewed for the Dolphins' job that went to Cam Cameron a year ago, but eventually withdrew his name from consideration.

Schottenheimer, 34, was a college quarterback at Kansas and Florida and has been an assistant coach with the St. Louis Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins and Chargers after briefly coaching at Syracuse and USC.

The Ravens have also interviewed Indianapolis Colts assistant coach Jim Caldwell, Dallas Cowboys assistant coach Tony Sparano, Cowboys offensive coordinator Jim Garrett and defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, who was fired a week ago along with the rest of Billick's staff.

Ryan was scheduled to interview Monday for the Atlanta Falcons' head coaching job and will meet with the Miami Dolphins early this week.

The Ravens sought to interview Browns offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski, but he declined and has signed a contract extension through 2012.
