Bills rookie OT Wang injures left leg, has to be carted off field

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Rookie left tackle Ed Wang was carted off the field at the end of a voluntary minicamp practice with a left leg injury on Saturday.

The fifth-round draft pick out of Virginia Tech was unable to put any weight on the leg after hurting it when he collided with a defender while pass-blocking near the end of practice Saturday. Wang immediately fell to the ground in pain and had difficulty getting up.

Trainers had Wang lay on his back with his leg elevated and then loaded him on the cart.

The Bills had no immediate update on the injury.

"I hope we haven't lost him for the season," coach Chan Gailey said. "That's what I'm hoping."

Wang is the first Chinese-American player to be drafted by the NFL and has been working mostly with the second-team offensive line in spring practice.
