Cross just completed his fifth season with the team, and first as inside linebackers coach. He was retained by incoming Bills coach Chan Gailey last year.

Cross originally joined the team in 2006 as a defensive assistant/special teams coach, and he served three seasons as assistant linebackers/special teams coach.

The Bills' defense struggled this season after converting to a 3-4 scheme. They ranked last in the NFL in run defense, allowing 170 yards per game on the ground, and were ranked 24th overall. Buffalo finished the season 4-12.
