Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Andy Dalton didn't finish his first NFL start because of a wrist injury, but he hopes to play this weekend against the Denver Broncos.
Dalton said he lost feeling in his right wrist Sunday and sat out the second half after taking a hit late in the second quarter from Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Phil Taylor.
"It's fine. I just lost a little feeling and couldn't grip it like I wanted to," Dalton said, per The Cincinnati Enquirer. "If I could have griped the ball, I would have stayed in the game. The plan is to play. I'm going to come in and do whatever I can to make it better."
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said after the game that all of the "initial scans" on Dalton came back negative. Dalton was scheduled to see a specialist Monday.
Dalton was 10-of-15 passing for 81 yards and one touchdown in his debut. He was replaced by veteran Bruce Gradkowski, who went 5 of 12 for 92 yards and one TD to rally the Bengals to a 27-17 victory.
