Ruskell had served as the interim general manager after longtime GM Jerry Angelo was fired shortly after finishing an 8-8 season. Ruskell was one of five candidates to interview for the position, but was not among the finalists.

The Bearslater confirmed the front-office move, saying the team and Ruskell "have mutually agreed to part ways."

The team hired Phil Emery as general manager on Saturday. Emery will be officially introduced during a news conference at 2 p.m. ET on Monday.

Ruskell previously served as the Seattle Seahawks' general manager from 2005 to 2009.
