Arizona Cardinals sign Tommy Kelly

Tommy Kelly was one of the most surprising and notable cuts during the recent roster shrinkage to 75 players. He wasn't out of work for long.

The Arizona Cardinals announced the signing of Kelly on Wednesday. Kelly adds depth at defensive tackle, where the team just lost Darnell Dockett for the season.

As Chris Wesseling wrote in his Cardinals season team preview, the Arizona defense doesn't quite look the same this season. Karlos Dansby, Daryl Washington and Dockett are not walking through that door.

Coach Bruce Arians needs his offense to carry a bigger load this season, and hope that the defense overachieves. Kelly could provide solid snaps playing behind Frostee Rucker in a rotation.
