Aqib Talib to Marquice Cole: 'Get that check, baby'

The Denver Broncos signed cornerback Marquice Cole this week to help add depth, a transaction that wouldn't have gained much notice if Cole hadn't played for the New England Patriots for most of the season.

GMC Never Say Never Moment

Tom Brady and the Patriots overcame a 24-point halftime deficit against the Broncos to prevail in Week 12. Was it the best moment of 2013?

The news gained some attention from certifiable misguided Patriots backers that gave Cole grief on Twitter for joining the enemy. New England, who cut Cole four times this year, apparently had kept his locker intact in case of a potential reunion down the road.

Leave it to Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib to put the matter into proper perspective.

"That's my dog, man," Talib said, via the Boston Herald. "Good luck, 'Quice. Cash that check, baby. Get that check, baby. Got to pay the bills, man."

That's what I say to our Around The League writers each day: Get that check, baby. (Although their checks are smaller: Cole will make $42,000 this week in Denver.) Cole owes the Patriots nothing, and it's ridiculous to think he would miss a paycheck out of some misplaced loyalty. Teams aren't loyal; why should players be?

The best part of this whole story: We were introduced to Cole's delightful Twitter account.
