A person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Tuesday night that the Jets re-signed the wide receiver to a one-year contract.
The deal, agreed upon about 10 days ago, is worth $875,000, including a $250,000 signing bonus, according to the person who spoke to the AP on Tuesday on condition of anonymity because the team had not announced the signing.
The 24-year-old Turner was scheduled to become a restricted free agent next month. A former college teammate of quarterback Mark Sanchez at Southern California, Turner had eight catches for 96 yards and a touchdown last season.
In addition to Burress, the Jets have several other decisions to make this offseason after finishing 8-8 and failing to make the playoffs. Key players such as running back LaDainian Tomlinson, nose tackle Sione Pouha, linebackers Aaron Maybin and Bryan Thomas and kicker Nick Folk are all due to become free agents.
