Agent: Veteran C Mawae could return to Titans as a backup

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Veteran center and free agent Kevin Mawae is in talks to stay with the Titans.

Mawae's agent, Mark Bartelstein, told The Tennessean that Mawae would love to stay in Tennessee. Bartelstein said he is talking with Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt to try to work out a deal.

If Mawae returns, the eight-time Pro Bowler would have to be a backup. The Titans will likely start Eugene Amano at center and Leroy Harris at left guard.

Mawae signed with the Titans in 2006 and offensive line coach Mike Munchak said he would love to keep him. Munchak said Mawae "still looks like a young kid" despite being 39 years old with 16 seasons under his belt.
