My love for the Green Bay Packers started about 15 years ago thanks to my dad's best friend, Mike, who was born and raised in Wisconsin and a diehard Packers fan. My dad didn't have a team he followed closely, but after meeting the Mikyskas, that quickly changed. Before long, our whole family was cheering for the Packers and spending our Sundays at "Pub Mikyska," Mike's backyard Packers-themed bar. It was the kind of place where everyone was welcome, families, friends, fans of all teams, and it became something we looked forward to every week. What started as a fun social tradition turned into something much more meaningful. Surrounded by that sense of community, my love for football and the Packers grew.
As I got older, that passion turned into something I wanted to share with others. Now, as a first-grade teacher in Connecticut, I bring that same spirit into my classroom. Each week, my students track the Packers' scores, compare wins and losses, and use real game stats to practice math skills. I wanted to spread Packers pride and my love for football to my students in a way that makes learning fun and helps them feel connected to something bigger than themselves. It's such a fun way to make learning come alive, but it's also about something deeper. It teaches my students about teamwork, resilience, and pride, and they love every minute of it.
My family and I are proud Packers shareholders, and we've traveled all over to watch the team play. From the excitement of game days at Pub Mikyska to unforgettable trips to Lambeau Field, every experience has deepened my love for the team.
For me, being a Packers fan is about more than football. It's about family, tradition, and the connections that bring people together no matter where you're from. It's about finding joy in community and sharing that energy with others, whether that's at a game, at home, or in a classroom full of little future fans. Go Pack Go!
