Charlie McAdoo

Dr. Charlie E. McAdoo II is a decorated educator, mentor, and community leader with more than 23 years of experience empowering students and families through education, mentorship, and youth development. A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, he is a proud graduate of Little Rock Central High School, where he also attended the Metropolitan Career and Technical Center and earned certification in radio broadcasting.

In 1996, Dr. McAdoo moved to Atlanta to attend Clark Atlanta University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing. During his college years, he worked for the Atlanta Braves and became a dedicated Atlanta Falcons fan. After graduation, he began his professional career in retail management with Champs Sports, where he honed his leadership, communication, and team-building skills before transitioning into education. He later earned a Master of Education in Business Education from the University of West Georgia and a Doctorate of Education in Adult and Career Education from Valdosta State University.

Dr. McAdoo currently serves as the OneGoal Director (College and Career Coach) at Decatur High School in the City Schools of Decatur. In this role, he helps students chart pathways to success in college, career, and life. Beyond the classroom, he leads the district's GENTS mentorship program, guiding young men in leadership, character development, and academic achievement.

A recognized leader in Career and Technical Education, Dr. McAdoo has been named a Georgia CTAE LEAD Fellow and a Georgia Department of Education Teacher Policy Fellow. He is an active member of the Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), the Georgia Association of Educators (GAE), and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. His work centers on promoting student agency, advocacy, and college and career readiness.

For more than 15 years, Dr. McAdoo has also served his community as a volunteer youth coach with Druid Hills Youth Sports and the Glenn Memorial Basketball League, instilling teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship in countless young athletes. He also serves as the public address announcer for the Decatur High School baseball team and as a parent volunteer for the Druid Hills High School Ultimate Frisbee team. Over numerous terms, he has served as a teacher representative on the Principal Advisory Council (PAC) at Beacon Hill Middle School and as a parent representative on the PAC at Druid Hills Middle School and Druid Hills High School. Dr. McAdoo's commitment to mentorship, family, and community has earned him several honors, including being named 2022 Father of the Year by the Atlanta Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Dr. McAdoo resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, Dr. Billynda McAdoo. Their son, Charlie III, attends Howard University in Washington, D.C., and their younger son, Billy, is a student at Druid Hills High School.
