Josh Scobee's agent confirms a lack of contract talks

Reports out of Florida last week were that the Jacksonville Jaguars and franchised kicker Josh Scobee had not engaged in talks towards a multiyear extension for months. On Monday, Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union received confirmation of the lack of dialogue from Scobee's agent, Ken Harris.

"Josh has asked me not to discuss specifics of negotiations other than what has already been said," Harris wrote in an email. "That is, we had some talks early on involving proposals from both sides, but haven't heard back from them in months. We know our last proposal is very fair.

"Josh and I will certainly discuss each of his options as July 16 approaches. For the time being, he is with his family in Louisiana with his family for a while."

Harris believes their latest proposal is fair. Not surprisingly, Jaguars general manager Gene Smith believes his team's most recent offer is fair. With less than three weeks to strike a deal, neither side appears close to blinking. We touched upon the kicker contract market and what may get a Scobee deal done last week. Instead of regurgitating that information, here's the link.
