Pack's Hawk out with chest sprain, no timetable for return

Green Bay Packers Linebacker A.J. Hawk missed Saturday's game with a chest sprain and did not practice Monday. Coach Mike McCarthy, who often refers to injured players as "day-to-day," described Hawk's injury as "week-to-week."

Rookie WR Morgan shines as 49ers rout Packers

J.T. O'Sullivan threw San Francisco's first scoring pass of the preseason and led the 49ers on back-to-back touchdown drives. Whether that was enough to help him complete his long-shot bid to become the Niners starting quarterback remains to be seen.

Pro Career: Named the 14th head coach in Packers history Jan. 12, 2006. Returned to Green Bay after serving as the team's quarterbacks coach in 1999. Subsequently was a highly successful offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints (2000-04).

With McCarthy calling plays, the Saints racked up 10 offensive team records and 25 individual marks. He was named NFC Assistant Coach of the Year by USA Today in 2000, and New Orleans led the league with 432 points and 49 touchdowns in 2002.

The list of quarterbacks he has coached includes Joe Montana, Elvis Grbac, Rich Gannon, Brett Favre, Matt Hasselbeck, Aaron Brooks, Jake Delhomme and Marc Bulger—a collection that combines for 25 career Pro Bowl selections and eight Super Bowl starts. Favre threw for 4,091 yards, the third-highest total of his career, in 1999 as Green Bay ranked seventh in the league in passing and ninth overall.

Background: Graduated with a degree in business administration from Baker University following a two-year playing career (1985-86). Was an all-conference tight end, helping the school to a NAIA Division II runner-up finish as a senior captain. Coached collegiately at Fort Hays State (1987-88) and Pittsburgh (1989-1992), before moving to the the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs (1993-98), Green Bay Packers (1999), New Orleans Saints (2000-04) and San Francisco 49ers (2005).

Personal: Born November 10, 1963, in Pittsburgh. Has a daughter, Alexandra.
