Mike McCoy was named the head coach of the San Diego Chargers on Jan. 15, 2013.

McCoy became the 15th head coach in Chargers history following a four-year stint with the Denver Broncos as the team's offensive coordinator under head coach John Fox. During his final season with the Broncos in 2012, he helped them capture the AFC's top playoff seed with a 13-3 record. The Broncos won 11 straight games to end the regular season, the second-longest winning streak in team history, and became only the seventh Super Bowl-era team to win their final 11 contests.

McCoy has coached five Pro Bowl selections during his NFL coaching career and has been involved with seven individual 3,000-yard passing seasons, the latest coming in 2012 while working with Peyton Manning.

Prior to working with Broncos, McCoy spent nine years (2000-08) as a coach with the Carolina Panthers, seven of which he worked under Fox. The Panthers totaled three playoff appearances, two division titles, two NFC Championship Game appearances and a berth in Super Bowl XXXVIII (2003) during McCoy's time on the staff.

Born in San Francisco on April 1, 1972, McCoy played quarterback at Long Beach State and Utah. He went on to play briefly with the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe and the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.

McCoy and his wife, Kellie, have a daughter, Olivia, and a son, Luke.
