Pro Career: Jack Del Rio was named head coach of the Oakland Raiders on Jan. 22, 2015, becoming the 19th head coach in franchise history.

Del Rio was defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos the previous three seasons (2012-14). Prior to that, Del Rio was head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars for nine seasons (2003-2011). During Del Rio's tenure, the Jaguars compiled a record of 68-71 (69-73 including playoff games). Del Rio led the Jaguars to two playoff appearances (2005 and 2007).

Before joining the Jaguars, Del Rio was the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2002, and the team's defense ranked second in the league after finishing 31st in 2001.

From 1999-2001, he was the linebackers coach for the Baltimore Ravens, helping the team win Super Bowl XXXV. Del Rio previously coached in New Orleans (1997-98).

He previously spent 11 years as an NFL linebacker. In 1985, he was a third-round choice of the New Orleans Saints and was named to the NFL's All-Rookie team. Del Rio also played for the Kansas City Chiefs (1987-88), Dallas Cowboys (1989-1991), and Minnesota Vikings (1992-95). He played in the Pro Bowl following the 1994 season.

Background: Four-year starter at linebacker from 1981-84 at Southern California, where he earned consensus All-America honors as a senior and was runner-up for the Lombardi Award. He was co-MVP of the 1985 Rose Bowl. Drafted by baseball's Toronto Blue Jays in 1981, Del Rio batted .340 while playing catcher on USC's baseball team. He has a political science degree from Kansas.

Personal: Born April 4, 1963 in Castro Valley, Calif. Jack and his wife, Linda, live in Jacksonville, and have three daughters, Lauren, Hope, and Aubrey, and a son, Luke.
