The Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders' coaching staffs have accepted invitations to coach the teams at the Senior Bowl, which will be played Jan. 26 in Mobile, Ala.

NFL teams with the worst records have a chance to coach the two Senior Bowl squads. The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, two of the four teams that have a worse record than the Lions, fired their head coaches on Black Monday. Typically, organizations undergoing a coaching change do not participate in the Senior Bowl.

Schwartz and his staff coached the Senior Bowl's North squad to a 31-13 victory over the South in 2010. This year, Raiders coach Dennis Allen will helm the North squad. Schwartz will lead the South team.

"Jim Schwartz is a personal friend," Senior Bowl executive director Phil Savage said in a statement. "I know how important the Senior Bowl is in his eyes, while Dennis Allen is one of the up-and-coming young head coaches in the professional game."

The Raiders have coached three previous times at the Senior Bowl, going 0-3. Lane Kiffin led Oakland in its last trip to Mobile, coaching the North squad in a 17-16 loss in 2008.

This will mark the ninth time the Lions have coached in the Senior Bowl, going 1-6-1 in its previous eight games.

The 2013 Senior Bowl will be televised on NFL Network.
