Pick Analysis: After being the top tight end in Pittsburgh?s program, Byham had to split time at the position with fellow senior Dorin Dickerson. Byham?s role became pretty much the blocking tight end with the occasional ball thrown his way to keep the defense honest. He is not real quick or nifty on his release and labors coming out of his breaks, which will make it difficult to separate from defenders at the next level. He should find a role in the NFL as a backup that can be used in two tight end situations as an extra blocker.
