Strengths
Francis is a quick player off the ball even though he is slow-footed in space. He got in the backfield often at Rutgers, even as a spot starter early on who would be brought in on passing downs. He is a slow reactor when reading plays, but once he makes a decision he is good to get after the ball and be disruptive. He is a high-effort player in space and even though he lacks the speed, he has shown the effort to get after players from the backside and make plays in pursuit. Justin understands technique and has the tools to improve his hand usage so he can stay off blocks at the next level. He is heady once in the backfield to disrupt plays.
Weaknesses
Francis is slow at times to read lineman and get into the correct gaps to cover his responsibilities. He is slightly undersized, especially when working inside, and stronger linemen can get a grip on him that he has a difficult time shedding. He will never be a physical presence on the line in the NFL, but if he could put on some weight he could counter some of the problems he's dealt with. Some teams could be scared away by the fact that it took him until his senior year at Rutgers to find consistent time as a starter.
