Pick Analysis: At Catherdral High School, Doyle earned Special Selection All-State and Associated Press Honorable Mention All-State honors and was a key member of the 2006 state championship team. Following his senior season in which he caught 21 passes for 400 yards and four touchdowns, Doyle earned Indianapolis Star Honorable Mention All-City and First Team All-Catholic honors. Doyle also lettered in rugby, and won a state title in 2008.

As a freshman in 2009, Doyle started 10 games at tight end. He finished second on the team with 365 yards off of 37 catches and one touchdown. He was named to Phil Steele's National All-Freshman squad after this season.

Doyle started 7 games at tight end in his sophomore season, before going down with a season ending injury. He managed to catch 20 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns. As a junior, Doyle was healthy and started all 12 games for the Hilltoppers. He was named second-team All-Sun Belt for this season.

As a senior, Doyle had his best season, starting all 13 games. He caught 53 passes for 566 yards and five touchdowns. After the season, he was named first-team All-Sun Belt. Doyle was also a three-time captain for Western Kentucky.
