Positives: Tall with adequate lower and upper body builds. Comes out of his stance with fair quickness, gets his hands active right away and is able to push his man down the line when coming off the ball. Strong angle technique, gets to his man's opposite shoulder and anchors to create a lane or will push his defender so he takes himself out of the play. Extends his arms in pass protection to keep defenders at bay. Uses one hand to help the center while watching for later blitzers if he's free. Good footwork in space; gets in front of screens and to linebackers at the second level. Negatives: Plays too tall; must prove he can anchor against stronger NFL tackles. Not dominating as a run blocker, lacking the strength to keep tackles from getting to backs as they go through the hole. Agile in space but has average straight-line speed. Did not play with his hand down much in West Virginia's offense, so his drive-blocking ability is in question. Choppy in his lateral movement at times. Leans too far into his man when run blocking; can get ripped off or lose his balance. Must work on landing his downfield cut blocks. Missed 2008 spring drills with shoulder surgery.
