NFL fantasy football: Week 8 waiver wire

Need to improve your fantasy football roster? NFL.com has you covered! Each week, we'll offer up the 10 players you need to target off the waiver wire in that never-ending quest for a fantasy league championship. The number listed in parenthesis next to the player's name is the percentage of NFL.com leagues that he is still available as a free agent.

    1. Rashad Jennings, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars (71.1 percent)

The Jaguars lost Maurice Jones-Drew to an injured foot - he's already been ruled out for Week 8 - making Jennings a hot waiver-wire pickup. A versatile running back who has shown flashes of potential, the Liberty product needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues while "Pocket Hercules" is forced to miss time. • 2. Randall Cobb, WR, Green Bay Packers (65.1 percent) 9

    2. Randall Cobb, WR, Green Bay Packers (65.1 percent)

Cobb went off against the St. Louis Rams, posting eight catches for 89 yards with two touchdowns. While he can be inconsistent at times, the talented wideout can be a valuable asset while Greg Jennings (groin) is out of action. It also doesn't hurt that he has the red-hot Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball. (Seth Perlman/Associated Press)

  • 3. Santana Moss, WR, Washington Redskins (48.7 percent) 8

    3. Santana Moss, WR, Washington Redskins (48.7 percent)

Pierre Garcon (foot) isn't expected to be back on the field any time in the near future, and the loss of Fred Davis (Achilles) for the season leaves Moss as the new top option for Robert Griffin III. That was very evident in Week 7, as he posted 67 yards and two touchdowns in a loss to the New York Giants. (Bill Kostroun/Associated Press)

  • 4. Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns (81.2 percent) 7

    4. Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns (81.2 percent)

Gordon put up his third straight solid stat line, catching three passes for 59 yards with a touchdown against the Indianapolis Colts. He has scored four touchdowns in his last three games, and is proving to be a serious playmaker. Gordon now needs to be owned in most fantasy football leagues heading into Week 8. • 5. Brandon Weeden, QB, Cleveland Browns (98.0 percent) 6

    5. Brandon Weeden, QB, Cleveland Browns (98.0 percent)

Weeden is coming off another nice performance, throwing for a very impressive 264 yards with two touchdowns while scoring 18.96 fantasy points in a loss to the Colts. He has now scored 15-plus fantasy points in three consecutive games and has a favorable matchup up next against the San Diego Chargers. (AJ Mast/Associated Press)

  • 6. LaRod Stephens-Howling, RB, Arizona Cardinals (93.2 percent) 5

    6. LaRod Stephens-Howling, RB, Arizona Cardinals (93.2 percent)

The Cardinals could use the hot hand in their backfield until Beanie Wells can return, but Stephens-Howling led the team in touches and scored 20.90 fantasy points against the Minnesota Vikings. While a tough matchup against the San Francisco 49ers looms, Stephens-Howling is worth a roster spot. (Andy King/Associated Press)

  • 7. Dustin Keller, TE, New York Jets (49.0 percent) 4

    7. Dustin Keller, TE, New York Jets (49.0 percent)

Welcome back to fantasy relevance, Mr. Keller. After injuries limited him over the first six weeks, Keller was finally able to make am impact with seven catches, 93 yards and one touchdown against the New England Patriots. When you consider the current state of the tight end position, Keller is worth a look. (Greg M. Cooper-US Presswire)

  • 8. Vick Ballard, RB, Indianapolis Colts (91.7 percent) 3

    8. Vick Ballard, RB, Indianapolis Colts (91.7 percent)

Ballard isn't going to light the fantasy football world on fire, but he did score 10.20 points in a win over the Browns. Next on the schedule is a date with the Tennessee Titans, who have one of the NFL's least-formidable defenses. If Donald Brown (knee) remains out of action, Ballard is the Colts back to own. • 9. Jeremy Kerley, WR, New York Jets (96.8 percent) 2

    9. Jeremy Kerley, WR, New York Jets (96.8 percent)

The Jets don't have a true No. 1 wide receiver on their roster, but Kerley is working hard to earn that label. He has recorded 90-plus yards in two of his last three games, including a 120-yard effort in Week 7 against the Patriots. At the very least, Kerley is worth a reserve role in fantasy land right now. • 10. Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis Rams (95.6 percent) 1

    10. Brandon Gibson, WR, St. Louis Rams (95.6 percent)

Gibson was featured in this space last week, but he's still unowned in most fantasy leagues. For those in deeper formats, he's a potential sleeper in Week 8 against the Patriots (London). Their defense has been among the worst in holding down wideouts, and Gibson is one of Sam Bradford's top options. (Scott Kane-US Presswire)
